Such a great read. As someone whose newsletter is recipes, AI does not don an apron and test the recipes it produces. It’s the person in the kitchen, testing and retesting a recipe. Learning from failures and mistakes, until everything comes together to make the best recipe it can be.

Well said Matthew! I got a chuckle that a journalist was trying to sell you on AI when their job may be in the biggest jeopardy.

Good point! Ironic that they were so excited by a technology that might have done the interview better than they did :)

I get additional subscribers by making relevant comments that add to someone's post.

Making a positive contribution to a good conversation has already been a great way to expand one's sphere of influence and gain new friends. Keep up the good work, Malcolm!

It has to amplify or extend their point with a gentle touch.

One would like to think so but I’ve noticed that the people who post most frequently get the most subscribers, at least initially. It creates an unfortunate race to the bottom tendency in the posts, with quantity over quality being rewarded

It’s a good point. And yet there are many factors. Their subscribers might not be our subscribers, may not have the longevity, may not upgrade to paid subscribers, etc. so speed, quantity and volume alone don’t tell us the whole picture. So don’t let the bot-pace psych you out.

Indeed. Well said. I’ve wondered the same. Although there’s something to be said for overcoming static friction quickly

You could have made the first paragraph your entire newsletter and I would still have given it a standing ovation 😊

Inspire, communicate, create relationships and moments! That's definitely something that a robot can't do for us (right now).

I love this Matthew. That's why I run cohorts offer lives and have a community called Online Writing School.

However, there are influencers who use AI to communicate 24/7 with their audience. If you sign a contract you have to be careful because often they want you to opt in that in the future they can use your hands, face etc. for ads for which they won't pay you etc.

There's definetly a shift and especially introverts are embracing AI.

Plus, faceless YouTube channels are a thing.

I believe we can train AI to be a digital version of us. Teach them our values, communication style etc. Might sound harsh.... But that's what I see.

However, human interaction is what nourishes our hearts and souls.

As a baby is longing to get hugged and kissed by his mommy.

I have two kids and they want their mommy. No hologram etc.

Still, I think it's nice that you told the journalist this wonderful narrative and I'd also love to believe in it. 💜

Thanks for sharing this on Restack- Saturday or Restuckerday 😆 Kristina

Thanks for your kind words, Kristina! I think AI can be a great tool; but it's never going to be YOU - and thank goodness for that. :) Keep up the great work.
