I lol’d when you mentioned the fax machine—I started working with my mom as her assistant just after you and that fax machine was everything with its crinkly paper. 😆Getting comps to put a house on the market meant calling offices because we’d put “sold” in the newspaper listing for a few weeks. Relationships with appraisers were gold. I’m so with you. And it really is simple like you said. The golden rule, client first. I used to live in Mexico City and my friends there would kill to have our MLS database so that they could do their work better for the consumer and also easier for themselves. Thank you, Matt! 👏🏻
Glad it brought back some fun memories - I remember when those faxes "faded out" because we left them on the dashboard of our cars in the sun! How far we've come - and not just with that tech, but with the degree of professionalism, collaboration and connection in this industry. When we positioned the client in the center, it made it possible to create a marketplace that did significantly more sales. People forget that more than half of all deals are co-broke deals. It's to everyone's advantage to share the information, because the clients come from our spheres anyway. Nobody will "steal" our client -- even more so now with mandatory buyer agency agreements up front. Thanks for your comment!
Amen! And lol! To hoard listings on online company portals isn’t the best for the consumer—it’s greed. I feel rebellious for constantly advocating for client first over money. When we do the right thing, when we’re honest and when we work hard, the clients will follow. 💯
I really want to represent The King of Wakanda. What a great listing that would be!
Seriously though, being consumer-centric is fundamentally good business practice, regardless of the business. Empowering consumers with the information they need to make solid decisions is my Platinum Rule!
