Aloha Matthew,
Firstly I want to thank you for all that you do for us in our industry. My name is Daniel Gonzalez and I am a realtor in Lahaina, HI and I am hopeful we can discuss a few things when you have a moment. I work with Sotheby's here and you have spoken for our company a few times. Your message during our virtual GNE during COVID and then again at LevelUP in 2021 were spectacular. Your newsletter is fantastic and we could use some of your high vibe right about now, especially on how we can be present for our community and our clients right now.
Please let me know the best way to connect with you privately and I look forward to the conversation.
Daniel, what a wonderful idea to tap Matthewʻs wisdom and aloha for Hawaiʻi at this time. This cargo ship analogy seems very meaningful at this moment when there are, of necessity, lots of feeder vessels taking care of immediate needs. As real estate professionals we will be or at least should be also looking at our contribution over the many years ahead as Lāhainā rises from the literal ashes.
Thanks for your kind words! I’ve been watching with sadness the situation in Lahaina. I know your community is strong and will rebound. I’d be honored to do what I could to help the vibe. Please reach me at matthew@mflearn.com and we can explore.
Hi Matthew! Such an inspiring message. I am recently retired from Real Estate management and this message reminded me I still have a purpose. l have been an instructor for the Iowa Association of Realtors since January 2020 and I will continue to do so even tho I am retired from the "every day" of Real Estate. I wrote down many notes but I posted near my computer the following: What shall I contain as an instructor; What shall I deliver as an instructor (other than the class material); and Where shall I go. This will inspire me to continue to prepare beyond the material for each class I teach. Thank you Matthew! I love being part of your world!!!
Hi Stefanie! I’m so grateful for your comment and glad it resonated with you - and to think some little parts will help you as daily reminders makes me smile. Glad we’re friends and appreciate you taking the time to let me know this was helpful. 🤗
Each of us has the opportunity to define our ideal to-be list. It starts by exploring our vision of ourselves - the kind of life we want to live, the kind of work we want to contribute, the kind of day we want to have. It might also involve asking, "Who do I need to be today - for myself, and for others who matter to me - my family, friends, colleagues, peers?"
The ideal To-Be list is one in which the essential "you" is given the full possibility to blossom. It's never compared to anybody else's To-Be list. But it's also not held back by all the little "to-dos" that can quickly absorb our energy and make it hard, if not impossible, for us to do that which we're great at doing - and should be doing every day.
For me, it starts with having a core mantra: #AlwaysInspiring. My to-be list is a way of asking: Is what I'm planning to do today in alignment with being inspiring (for myself and others). If not, then perhaps my plan for the day is a TODO plan, rather than a BE plan.

Great extension of the metaphor, Beth!

The idea of a "to-be list" rather than a "to-do list" is intriguing. What would your ideal "to-be list" look like?
Hi John:

Hope that helps!
